Antonella Torrisi - PhD Student
I am a PhD I student in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and I work on bioacoustic research focusing on the vocal interaction of chicks. I have a Master's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Data Science and Big Data Analytics. Among my research interests are the study of animal cognition and communication, and I am fascinated by the use of artificial intelligence to study animal behaviour.
In my PhD research, I study the vocalisations of chicks: my aim is to understand the meanings of the vocalisations produced by the chicks ( categorising them) and to investigate how chicks' behaviour is shaped by early vocal interaction with a live system that simulates the calls of the mother hen. The ultimate goal of my project is to create a live system that by interacting acoustically with the chicks could improve their welfare.
