Rosie Davis - PhD student and Pillar of Positivity in the lab

I am a PhD student researching mental health and wellbeing in the Prepared Minds lab and the School of Biological and Behavioural Science at Queen Mary University of London. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s degree in cultural psychology and psychiatry.

My research interests include positive psychology, child and adolescent wellbeing and developing digital technologies to support prevention of poor mental health and increasing accessibility to psychological support.

For my doctoral studies, I work with vocational ballet dancers and other adolescent cohorts to support their wellbeing through a positive psychology intervention (Positive Balance) delivered both face-to-face and digitally. These interventions focus on strengthening resilience and empowering young people to manage their own mental health, helping them develop the skills and confidence to navigate challenges and enhance their overall wellbeing. The Positive Balance team are currently working on a digital version in hopes of bridging the gap in the availability of positive psychology tools for a wider cohort of young people. I am funded via an ESRC LISS DTP studentship.
